Dr. Mazzarella provides diagnostic and operative services at the following facilities:

Telemedicine consults (via Skype or other videoconferencing technology) are also available. Dr. Mazzarella has Telemedicine capabilities from both his home and office and can connect to many ER's, clinics, and even directly to patients that have Telemedicine capabilities. Call (530) 458-3243.

The following types of problems are often seen in the clinic (and also through Telemedicine):

Chronic recurring cholecystitis (inflamed gallbladder), treated with laparosocopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal using camera/minimal incisions)

Hernias. often treated laparoscopically (camera/minimal incisions) and/or with plastic mesh repair

Bowel obstruction (blockage) from scar tissue (adhesions) from previous operations, or from other causes, often treated laparoscopically (camera/minimal incisions)

Abscesses and severe infections, often needing incision and drainage. (Sometimes these must be treated in the hospital.)

Minor Traumatic injuries requiring operative repair, such as lacerations (cuts) requiring sutures

Minor gastrointestinal bleeding or recurring pain requiring endoscopic (camera) examination of the stomach

Abdominal pains of uncertain cause requiring laparoscopic (camera) examination of the abdomen or CAT scan evaluation

Gangrene, early or late

Skin cancer removal, including on face, scalp, or ears

Minor reconstructive surgery (rotational flaps) for cosmetic defects from skin cancer removal

Removal of benign lesions for cosmetic reasons (large unsightly moles, etc)

Breast surgery, including evaluation and removal of breast masses (some can be removed in the clinic, others in the hospital) and breast cancer

Varicose vein evaluation, often requiring sclerotherapy (injection treatment) or operative removal

Dialysis access, including creation of fistulae and grafts (shunts) for dialysis

Endoscopy, camera examination of the inside of the esophagus and stomach for ulcers, bleeding, and other upper digestive disorders

In addition, second opinions are available on many surgical problems that may not be able to be handled locally:

Vascular disorders (artery blockages), often manifested as pain when walking, minor strokes, sudden vision changes (blackout of a portion of the visual field), and non-healing ulcers of the feet and toes

The following services are also offered throughout Northern California:

Laparoscopic tubal ligation for elective sterilization (camera/minimal incisions, a 10 minute procedure)

Vasectomy
